About StranksLab

StranksLab is led by Dr Sam Stranks (@samstranks). We are an inclusive and diverse group based in the Department of Chemical Engineering & Biotechnology and the Cavendish Laboratory (Department of Physics) at the University of Cambridge, with a wide range of experimental facilities across the West Cambridge site. We are also members of the Optoelectronics Group. We have a number of ongoing collaborations across campus and internationally. If you are interested in working in a dynamic, collaborative, interdisciplinary environment with diverse, world-leading researchers on some of the hottest topics in optoelectronics, please get in touch.

Group Values:

We believe that new discoveries are driven by integration of ideas by individuals with a diverse mix of backgrounds, experiences, and identities. We are committed to cultivating an inclusive and collaborative work environment where members are empowered to freely and openly share their different views, ideas and experiences. We welcome and advocate for people from all walks of life irrespective of race, religion, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability status, socioeconomic status, or citizenship and immigration status. In the group we host a monthly meeting to discuss and identify systemic discrimination and develop local actions to mitigate or eradicate these issues. This meeting is also a safe space for group members to express themselves openly and without judgement. In all our activities we encourage diverse perspectives, discussions and ideas.
